I couldn't be more thrilled about my most recent purchase....a digital camera with an LCD screen on BOTH sides! I've always been a fan of the self portrait and recently, that's all Will and I have taken when we get together and have a camera in hand. I don't know how many self shots I've butchered by cutting of his head or missing the key element in the background, etc. This is sure to make all our self portraits one hit wonders. Why didn't anyone think of this sooner?! It is the most genius idea I've ever seen (except of course for all the creative inventions that Katie B. Nauman and I plan to develop and launch). The next blog post is sure to be filled with picture perfect self portraits - just you wait!

Dating around the world continues with a trip to Las Vegas over superbowl weekend. It wouldn't be complete without some travel dilemmas and thanks to Snowpocolypse 2010 on the east coast, we were forced to pull out the back up plan to the back up plan. Good thing Will always has some of those up his sleeve. I nearly missed my Friday morning flight out of D.C. and literally made it to the gate within seconds of departure. The flight was actually delayed 10 minutes which was my saving grace. But, because I was so late to board, they had given my seat in the back of the plane to another passenger, forcing me to endure an upgraded economy plus seat for the first leg to Denver. Flights on the way home were cancelled due to weather and I nearly got stuck in another storm in Charlottesville Tuesday, but managed to thwart the jet stream just long enough to get home. Not that being stuck in Vegas would have been such a bad thing! Anyway, we had an incredible weekend and even got to revisit a few of our favorite Paris landmarks.

Before the holidays, OB Scene wrote a Christmas jingle. Unfortunately, the video quality on my Blackberry was less than stellar and sent the file in a format unknown to any video player I have. Paris pics are here! You may have thought that a reunion in Europe after not seeing each other in person for ten years was crazy, but we thought nothing of it. It turned out to be an incredible weekend and we are so glad we made the trip. Thanks for thinking of us and all the well wishes.

At the top of the Eiffel Tower I looked down one level below and this girl looked up. We both dropped our jaws and said each other's name at the same time. It was my cousin Angie! Will and I thought that the way we reconnected was indicative of a small world, and this just further proves it!

This year my birthday present to myself was spending an afternoon decorating cakes. Patty Griffin playing on my laptop in the kitchen, the purr of my kitchenaid mixer making icing and constructing the cutest little penguins made for a blissful afternoon. Is that weird? Too bad. This is my therapy. Ta Da.

Christmastime 2009!!!

Well, needless to say I'm snowed in! I've called in my own national guard - my brother - to come and get me for Christmas. The last few days have been incredible though. Thankfully I am within walking distance of the hospital so I was able to work this weekend. Babies don't stop delivering just because the weather is "inclement!" And I'm also lucky enough to have a huge house with lots of beds, heat, food, running water and a spinning christmas tree. So I hosted nurse sleepovers each night so that people could leave the hospital, get a hot shower and some rest before heading back each morning. We also utilized the operating room shoe covers as waterproof boots and headed to the bar after each shift. What a storm to remember! I love these women and am so glad that I was able to weather the storm with them. At least I haven't been stuck inside alone all weekend. We had tons of fun and will have stories for a lifetime. Watch as the group grows each night!
